Welcome

We realize that that industry has evolved to an age where IT exists in every major competitive enterprise, such that IT is not just a business enabler but is also a competitive asset if used correctly. “Technology” is what allows humans to make things faster, better, and cheaper. Those who realize this invest heavily in it. Those who don’t languish and ultimately perish.

For this reason, IT leaders who build and operate IT organizations need to nimble and can’t waste time on the things that have become repeatable in and across all technology organizations. This is where the IF4IT comes in.

Welcome to the International Foundation for Information Technology (IF4IT), where we hope to offer useful and open content that assists IT leaders and practitioners with the designing, building, scaling, operating, and supporting high-functioning Information Technology (IT) organizations.

The IF4IT Mission

Our mission is simple. We aim to help IT leaders and practitioners design and build higher functioning IT organizations faster and more affordably.

Our goals are to achieve this by identifying, documenting, curating, and openly publishing IT best practices (and more) so that new and existing IT leaders and practitioners can quickly and openly leverage such materials without having to pay a fortune for what others already know and have done (i.e., common industry knowledge).

IF4IT Deliverables

We document anything we believe is common to and repeatable across IT organizations, regardless of the industry they serve. Examples include but are not limited to:

• IT best practices,

• IT frameworks,

• IT models,

• IT architectures,

• IT inventory designs, and

• Any knowledge that helps leaders and practitioners know what works, what doesn’t, and why.

IF4IT Goals

Our goals are very simple. We wish to share materials that help IT professionals and their businesses achieve:

• Quicker Time-to-Value,

• Lower Complexity,

• Higher Quality, and

• Lower Costs.

And, we wish to share this knowledge openly and freely because we believe sharing such knowledge makes us all stronger, together.

We Lean Towards Automation

An important foundation in all our materials is the drive towards automation of operational processes and procedures. We believe in the premise that IT professionals should drive to automate-everything-all-the-time. And, we believe that alignment through the consistency brought by things like our offerings are the foundations for such automations.

We are not perfect

As the industry evolves and shifts, our deliverables need to also do so. Keeping up with the rapid change is difficult but we try our best. If you see something that has changed in or is missing from our documentation, feel free to Contact Us and we’ll try to do what we can to rapidly adapt our materials to such changes.

Just like fingerprints, no two enterprises are ever exactly the same - people are different, skills are different, industries are often different, enterprise size is different, funding is different, government expectations are often different, the tools and technologies used in each organization are different, how they are configured is different, etc. For this reason, we can offer you our materials and guidance but we can’t tell you exactly how to implement them, and how you implement them is ultimately and always up to you and on you.
