Archive

1. (noun) A repository or structured collection — of Records, Data, Documents, or other Information — that is retained and preserved for historical reference, compliance, or future reuse.

2. (verb) To move, copy, or transfer Records, Data, Documents, or other Information into an Archive for long-term retention, reference, or preservation.

NOTE: Information Technologists often use the term as a verb, as in "to archive" or "archived", which implies adding to the repository or collection.
